Membership Benefits:

The National Association of Federal Retirees (NAFR) members enjoy significant savings with a range of partners. Our benefits are all focused on improving the quality of life of our members.

Our most popular benefit, MEDOC emergency travel insurance, goes well beyond the PSHCP and fills in some important gaps to ensure peace of mind while you travel.

Our ever-expanding list of partners serve our members’ needs providing trustworthy service for home and auto insurance, relocation and real estate services and travel, including escorted tours and hotel and car rental discounts. Savings from our reputable partner companies more than offset the price of membership.

Advocacy

With almost 185,000 members, NAFR is the largest and most influential advocacy group for federal retirees.  We advocate for the protection of our members’ pensions, health & dental insurance benefits, to affect change at the policy level to enhance the quality of life for our members, and to prevent the implementation of proposals detrimental to pensioners' interests.

Pensions are coming under scrutiny like never before -- every member makes us stronger.

Information

NAFR members have access to professional research staff who can provide answers to pensioners’ questions on such topics as superannuation acts, Public Service Health Care Plan, Pensioners' Dental Services Plan and many other issues important to pensioners.

Members are also kept informed through branch reports, special mailings and branch meetings across Canada, as well as through our national web site, http://www.federalretirees.ca.

Publications

Members receive NAFR's quarterly newsletter, SAGE, full of up-to-date information on topics related to their pensions, health & dental benefits and other issues of concern.

We also exclusively provide members with ‘You and Your Survivors’, a workbook especially designed for NAFR members and their families to help them with estate planning and the winding up of their estate. For members with families and loved ones, this book alone is often worth the price of membership.

Volunteer & Social Opportunities

NAFR members are assigned to a local Branch based on their home address.  Our Branch informs its members of upcoming NAFR meetings, seminars and social events that take place in our local area.  Branch Members can also get involved by volunteering to assist other members within our community.  The contact information for our Branch can be found on your membership card or on our Branch website under the 'Contact & Volunteers' Tab.
