Events: Social & Speakers

At our Branch Meetings and Events, Members have an excellent opportunity to participate and socialize. These occasions are generally combined with the social aspects surrounding a meal, the art of breaking bread together, networking, developing a bond. With over 2000 members in our Fraser Valley West Branch, there are plenty of opportunities to communicate and socialize.

An example is the Meet and Chat gathering, an informal get together of members and guests, the 1st Thursday afternoon of every month.

The Quarterly Branch Newsletter, received by our members, mostly via e-mail, is an excellent source of information for Branch contacts, activities, location and dates.

Our mid July BBQ held at the Peace Arch Park has become an annual favourite. The best of locations, good July weather, nearby parking and member support has made this outing very successful.

There is an autumn event, perhaps Harness Races at Fraser Downs in Cloverdale, and in December we gather to celebrate a traditional Christmas.

Additional events are organized as the demand or opportunty arises. We always welcome input and suggestions from the membership.

Meet & Chat monthly informal get-togethers:

Meet & Chat get-togethers offer Members the opportunity to informally chat on any retirement related subject, exchange retirement experiences and challenges, as well as brainstorm on retirement related matters as they deem important at the time. In this comfortable setting, we extend listening, support and acceptance to ‘old’ and new Branch Members.
